(Taipei Report) The works of jewellery designer Hao-Yang Lai (HAOYANG) is now on display at the Taipei Mayor’s Residence until 14th November.

On display at the Taipei Mayor’s Residence until November 14th, the latest collection by jewellery designer Hao-Yang Lai (HAOYANG) exemplifies a profound shift in contemporary high jewellery. While the discipline has historically relied on gold and platinum, experimental metals like titanium have steadily ascended into prestigious auction houses and museum collections. Prized for its ethereal lightness and vibrant, shifting hues, titanium offers a featherweight wearability and an enduring, scratch-resistant brilliance capable of spanning generations.

Due to the metal’s extreme hardness and oxygen reactivity, its production remains notoriously difficult. To bypass these limitations, Hao-Yang developed custom equipment to master titanium fabrication process in-house, a feat achieved by only a handful of global jewellery houses. Conceived during his design studies in the UK, his brand seamlessly synthesises cutting-edge material science with traditional jewellery-making techniques, reviving fading craftsmanship and injecting vital innovation into the modern industry.
